We've had so much fun photographing these sessions, and every family has had a story to tell, so we decided to do a little interview with each family and post it with our image spotlights.
Meet the Rapacki Family!
What was your favorite thing about your session?
- We just got to be real. It was fun being silly and it brought back some much needed normalcy. My oldest who doesn’t enjoy taking formal pictures actually thought this experience was fun. It was 15 minutes and everyone was happy.
Is there anything you'd like to say to your photographers?
- Thank you for capturing us in our environment and working so well with the kids. You always seem to get the right shots.
What was your favorite activity during quarantine?
- Family game night and movie night. It has brought us closer together.
What was your least favorite thing about quarantine?
- I’m really missing my family, it would have to be not being able to see my Mom and Dad and siblings.
Did you acquire any new hobbies or learn any new skills?
- I signed up months ago to do a yoga teacher training. Since COVID it has been taught via zoom. I wasn’t sure I would enjoy it the same as in person. It has been a life changer. It’s amazing what it does to quite the mind. I also enjoy the community we have developed. I love the resilience we all have, though it’s online I feel a sense of purpose and connection. I believe this experience will make me a better teacher.
What are some things you did to have fun outside?
- We are biking more then ever with the kids. We started a vegetable and herb garden. I grew up on a farm and it brings back nostalgic feelings of being a kid.
What was your favorite thing to snack on?
- I’m loving Pinterest and all the recipes I never had time to make before.
What are some things you did to help you feel connected with others?
- Organized a socially distant Easter egg hunt with the neighbors. We gave the older neighbors eggs and they placed them around their front yard. It was fun too see the younger and older generations unite. Our neighborhood is amazing I am so grateful to have such a close knit community.
What is your favorite memory from quarantine?
- My favorite memory was my Birthday. My husband and the kids made it so special. We went for a hike, ate like champs and celebrated all weekend. I heard from many friends and family through zoom and Houseparty.
What are you most excited to do after the restrictions are lifted?
- Go on a trip! See my family.
What have you learned?
- I have learned not take the simple things for granted. The simplicity of going somewhere and not worrying about catching something.
What are you most thankful for about this time?
- The slow down of the hustle and bustle.
VOTE- Porch Portrait Contest
As you know, Sandy Puc' Photography launched porch portrait sessions as our response to COVID-19. We wanted to showcase your families at your homes and document this unprecedented time.
After photographing more than 200 sessions, we were able to donate six truckloads of canned goods to the Valley View Cares Food Pantry and over $4000 to the Mile High United Way through the HelpColoradoNow.org fund!
We had so much fun doing these and saw so many creative, fun ideas so we decided to launch a contest to find the best porch portrait and all proceeds go to charity!
About the Contest
- Votes are $1.00 each
- The money from voting goes to HelpColoradoNow.org (through the Mile High United Way) and our goal is to raise $10k. If every family gets 30 votes, we can reach our goal!
- Voting ends July 15th
Please help us reach our goal!
Sandy personally selected 4 images from each family that represent their personality - so if you participated, go find your family and get voting! Every little bit helps.
We appreciate you all, and can't wait to see which photo wins! Thank you all for your participation!
